And I thought I couldn’t get more hyped for this movie. Marvel proves me wrong once again. According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan is joining Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie. As of this moment, he and Chadwick Boseman are the only actors confirmed for the Wakandan King’s first solo outing, but surely more famous faces will start coming out of the woodwork in the months to come. Just yesterday we learned that Lupita Nyong’o (Jungle Book, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is in negotiations for the movie as well. Another dazzling actor to join T’Challa on the silver screen, if she does end up taking the role.
This film will be the 3rd that Coogler and Jordan have worked on together, the first two being the drama Fruitvale Station and the Rocky sort of sequel Creed. Both films were brilliant and definitely help us block out the fact that poor MBJ ended up in a movie as disappointing as Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. However, Creed showed us with the right director and story he can do wonders on the big screen.
At the moment it is unclear who Jordan will play, however one source told THR that MBJ could be a villain. But considering they said could be and Marvel has yet to confirm or deny this fact, take this news with a grain of salt. But it doesn’t really matter if he’s a villain or not. The dream team is back together! And that can only mean good things. What do you think? Match made in heaven or can lightning not strike more than twice?
