Throughout this year, us superhero movie fans have had our ups and downs. It started off with a bang with the Fox hit Deadpool, and then Batman vs Superman brought us back into reality a bit. Within just the last few weeks we got another satisfying Marvel movie in Captain America: Civil War, and X-Men: Apocalypse is just around the corner. But let’s take a second to look into the future at a highly anticipated movie that could put the DCEU back into our good graces: Suicide Squad. This movie has not yet hit theaters and will not till late August of this year, however it seems Warner Bros has quite a bit of faith in their iteration of a well loved DC character.
Harley Quinn has always been a favorite of comic book fans, alas she is only now getting her spot in the lime light. The closest she’s every been to the screen is the failed CW show Birds of Prey and some animated movies (not to take away from the animated movies, those are swell don’t get me wrong). But Warner Brothers seems to believe in that the villainess will not only be a fan favorite in Suicide Squad, but will also be able to carry her own weight in a spin-off.
This movie is definitely something I would like to see, especially with the other news attached to this interesting bit of new information. It seems Wonder Woman would be the only girl power film in the foreseeable future. According to THR, this movie is going to be a very female-centric one, starring many different female heroes and villains. While nothing is official on the other characters to join Harley, the names Batgirl and Birds of Prey have come up. Any info on the plot of the story is currently on lock down, as is the person penning this film’s script. However it is known that the scribe will indeed be a woman.
So what do you think? Is this a long time coming or can it wait a bit longer? Talk about it in the comments and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on the Harley Quinn spin-off movie and more things in the world of movie news.
