Of all the superhero films of this year, one that was of the most anticipated was Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. For months before the film’s release many a nerd would search the internet daily for new news on the monumental film. When we all first learned the run time would be as long as it was, many were excited for all the story that could be fit into the 153 minute movie. And then the movie happened. Often described as poorly edited and and uneven, the theatrical cut of BvS was of the biggest disappointments of the year so far. Now comes the time for the film’s blu-ray to hit store shelves and while only the truest of nerds were originally going to buy this movie it has something that intrigues us all: an R-rated cut of the movie.
And at first glance this seems like a marketing ploy I know. And it may well be, however this cut is said to be a whole half hour longer than the theatrical version of the film. With that much time some plot holes could be filled and it could turn out to be less choppy. And according to the film’s cinematographer Larry Fong, this cut is definitely worth seeing. In his latest tweet, Fong stated “Watched the
#UltimateEdition again; now believe EVERYONE will LOVE it. Pre-order TODAY! #BatmanvSuperman #WBHomeEnt“.
Now notice how he says “now”. It’s worth pointing out that not too long ago Mr.Fong said something that contradicts this statement. On June 2nd he tweeted out “Those of you who are fans, will dig it. If you hated it, you’ll still hate it.” So that must be taken into consideration if you’re considering buying the blu-ray just for the extended cut. I mean, it’s not like people can’t change their minds, but his first statement seemed pretty clear and not exactly open to interpretation.
So what do you think? Did Fong actually change his mind or did the PR people get to him? And are you buying the blu-ray? Talk about it in the comments and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on the BvS extended cut and other things in the world of movie news.
Batman vs superman: Dawn of Justice comes out on Blu-ray July 19th of this year. But if you are just done with this movie and want to move on, Suicide Squad comes to theaters August 5th.
