The Lego Movie franchise has had a tough run of it. While the 2014 movie was extremely well received by critics and fans alike, the movie was overlooked. The movie wasn’t even nominated for best animated feature. You could’ve easily replaced The Boxtrolls with The Lego Movie and no one would’ve batted an eye (no hate towards Boxtrolls though). All it got was the song Everything is Awesome a nomination. So this franchise has had a bit of frustrating time. And it seems to be just getting worse.
The sequel to the beloved Lego Movie has pushed from May 18th, 2018 to February 8th, 2019. It is unclear why the movie has been moved back considering the success of its predecessor. On does have to wonder what the they think of this movie, with May being the new start of Summer in film. And February being … well it’s not January. If you really believe in a movie you put it in the Summer. So this is something to wonder about.
While this movie has been moved back, it’s spin-off The Lego Batman Movie has not been moved. It currently sits at February 10th, 2017, so we have that to look forward to. So what do you think? Is everything still awesome cause we have Lego Batman next year? Or are you really bummed?
