Likely best known for his portrayal of Ensign Paval Chekov in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, Anton Yelchin has been found dead. “Yelchin’s friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate. Law enforcement tells us the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. The driveway was on a fairly steep incline. It’s unclear why he got out of the car.” Says TMZ. The cops do not suspect foul play.
Anton Yelchin was born in Leningrad during the reign of the Soviet Union. At 6 months he and his parents traveled to the United States in the hope of political asylum. He began his acting career at the age of nine in Los Angeles. Along with his role in the new Star Trek franchise, Yelchin was also known for his roles in the 2011 movie Fright Night and Terminator Salvation. Anton was 27.
