One of the best examples of a hit book turned to a hit film franchise, the Harry Potter movies have been a source of entertainment for adult and child alike since it first appeared on the big screen in 2001. We fell in love with these magical yet relatable characters over the course of 8 films, but that just made it harder to say goodbye. Now we are living five years post-Potter and it seems the magical wizarding world will never really leave our lives. In just a few months we will meet the famous wizard Newt Scamander (played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne) in the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to find Them and come July 30th the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will premiere in London’s West End. Alas not everyone has the ability to get to London, but there may be hope yet!
It seems there’s a possibility that this stage play will venture onto the silver screen sometime in the future. According to Hypable Warner Brothers (the studio behind your favorite magical franchise) filed for copyright protection for The Cursed Child in Britain on the 8th of this month. The type of protection they filed for apparently indicates that Warner Bros may be planning to make this their next addition to the Potter franchise. Now I’m saying apparently a lot because this is second hand info so take it with a grain of salt. And even if it is true that doesn’t mean that it will most certainly be used. This is just to give you a glimmer of hope for the future. You’re welcome.
So do you think I’m giving you false hope? Are you thankful you might not have to trek all the way to a foreign country to see this? Talk about it in the comments and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on the Harry Potter franchise and other things in the world of movie news.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child comes to London’s West End July 30th and Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them comes to US theaters November 18th, 2016.
