Captain Marvel Director Found?

It seems Marvel has found its Captain Marvel directors, and yes I said directors.

2006 Sundance Film Festival - "Half Nelson" Portraits

This just in: Marvel may have found its Captain Marvel director, or should I say directors. Variety is reporting that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have been chosen to direct Captain Marvel. Boden and Fleck are best known for writing and directing the 2015 Drama Mississippi Grind Starring Ben Mendelsohn and Ryan Reynolds, but outside of that the pair aren’t known for much. Not that this should be worrying to anyone. Marvel has a gift for picking out talented directors that aren’t particularly well known and making them into cinematic powerhouses. They did it with the Russo brothers, they did it with James Gunn, and now they’re gonna do it with these two. Now keep in mind Marvel hasn’t yet confirmed this news, so this could be bad info. But I don’t think it is. It’s a bit too random to be fake. But until it’s official, don’t completely take it to the bank.

So thoughts on this choice? Who was your pick for directing Captain Marvel? Talk about it in the comments, and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on the Captain Marvel directors and other things in the world of movies.

Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters in March 8th, 2019.

Movies I’ve Seen – Captain America: The First Avenger

So I have been slacking. I really have. But rather than just let this die I’m gonna keep trying to get my life together. So this is a little thing I like to call “Movies I’ve Seen”. This is just me reviewing movies (recent and not) that I watch. It’s an easy way for me to get content out without it taking too much time. Hopefully I stick with it. So the movie I’m starting off with is Captain America: The First Avenger because I want to pretend America is as honest and true as Steve Rogers. This is without a doubt my favorite movie. This movie is one of the three dvds I own and this is the only one I legit love (I won the other two in a contest). This movie is everything I love about movies all rolled up in one. That may not be true, but if I could only have one movie on my mantle this would be the one. Now to get into the nitty-gritty.

This movie is just grand. As a diehard patriot and a girl who was the same weight and height as Steve Rogers pre-super soldier serum, this movie speaks to me on a spiritual level. Steve Rogers represents everything you think America is as a kid and everything you want it to be as an adult. If i could just meet one person who is half the man he is, my faith in humanity would grown tenfold. And Chris Evans as Steve Rogers is completely believable. Him as a little guy who can’t say no to a fight is how I will always see Chris Evans (even though I first knew him as Johnny Storm). Most successful actors come to a point in their career where they play a character that is so beautiful and iconic and brilliant tumblr_n2lra2xgwh1r5a08so1_250that they are seen as that forever. I knew in 2011, before the Avengers, before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, before any of that, that Chris Evans would always be Captain America. And I’m pretty okay with that. Captain America isn’t a bad person to be.

Now on to the other characters. Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes is just grand. His friendship with Steve is like the best kind of friendship. They’re like brothers. Seeing him evolve throughout the Captain America franchise is truly extraordinary. While I do find Bucky’s character is best used in Captain America: Civil War, this is a great introduction to the character. Now let’s go on to Peggy Carter, who will forever be goals. She is everything I wish I could be. She is a feminist icon that deserves her tv show back, but I digress. Hayley Atwell was the perfect choice for this part. I didn’t know her when I saw her and by the end I couldn’t forget her. And as for her love story with Steve, it didn’t feel forced. It just organically came about because he was a good, honest man and she recognized that. Gosh, were they good. Also let’s talk about Hugo Weaving, cause this has always ground my gears. His Red Skull is one of the best villains the MCU has ever had. People always complain about these half-assed MCU villains, but when we talk good villains Red Skull never comes up! I mean I love Loki as much as the next teenage girl, but you gotta give the man his props. It is a real bummer though that Hugo Weaving has like no desire to come back to the MCU. Cause he doesn’t die at the end. When I first watched the movie I just assumed the Tesseract killed him, but really it transported him to somewhere in the cosmos. They could bring him back, but Hugo just isn’t about it. A true shame. And the last guy to talk about is Tommy Lee Jones, because that man is a fucking national treasure. Though I have literally never seen him young. Did he become an actor at 50 or something? I mean he is amazing but he has always been old. but his character is Tommy Lee at his finest. I’m not gonna go in depth with this cause you know it’s true. OH SHIT! I forgot to talk about Stanley Tucci!! First things first it took me a few watches to realize that man was Stanley Tucci. It just didn’t connect in my head at the time. But damn is that man great. Erskine was just so lovely and that part when he and Steve are talking the night before the operation is just beautiful. His whole little monologue is just great.

As for story this movie catches my heart everytime, and I’ve seen this movie at least 17 times. This is the movie that when you see it on tv you watch it to the end, even if you start it in the middle. While it is the stereotypical hero origin story, it has more of a heart to it than Thor or Iron Man. You don’t think of it as a superhero movie, you think of it as just a beautiful, patriotic movie. You think of it as a regular person putting himself at risk for the tumblr_ojdbtg5vl91tlgqkgo5_250sake of his country. That’s some fucking beautiful shit man. And that last part when he has to crash the jet, it breaks my heart every time. EVERY. TIME. And another thing that makes this movie great is the period it’s set in. Watching it you feel that patriotism caused by World War II being transferred into you. While this period was not the best, it’s nice to just pretend everything’s okay by watching a nice, mousy white boy become a superhero.

And lastly, I love this movie’s score. It just bleeds patriotism, but the best parts aren’t the uber patriotic ones. My favorites are “Farewell to Bucky” and “This is my Choice”. That’s all I’m gonna say, but listen to them if you have a free minute.

In conclusion, this movie is a great thing to watch to forget we’re living in Trump’s America. And for those living outside of the US, I don’t know if this movie will hit you as hard as it hit me, but who knows? Talk about that in the comments and tell me what I should watch next! The Oscar nominations just came out yesterday and I’m gonna be going through those to prepare for the big night, but I’ll find some time in between if y’all suggest something. Also like this and share it with someone. And if you could follow me I’d really appreciate that. But if not that’s fine, just you reading this is a blessing.

Brie Larson Officially Cast as Captain Marvel

Ever since the lineup was first set for phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Captain Marvel movie has been up in the air. With no info on what it would entail and how this would be woven into the current landscape of the MCU. However it was so far away we just had to wait and see. While it was set farther back to make room for the addition of Spidey and Ant-Man sequel, it grows closer and closer upon us every day. We got less than three years now and while to the average film fan that may seem like a while, this is close enough to announce who will be playing the titular character of the coming film.

Most recent Oscar winner for best actress, Brie Larson, has been officially cast as the Captain Marvel of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This has been assumed by many for a mv5bmjm4mzaxoti5nv5bml5banbnxkftztgwmzmznta4nje-_v1_uy317_cr20214317_al_while now but in Hall H today it was officially announced that Brie would take up the mantel of the superhero. Larson was always front runner for the slor so I’m sure Marvel is very happy with themselves. As for Brie Larson’s career, it’ll be interesting to see where this leads her. She has only recently become a public name and has already won her first Oscar. So maybe this means she’s gonna stick with some fun Marvel movies and save the other Room type movies for later.

‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ Casting Updates

Jeez this movie sure likes being in the news. I JUST posted an article on Michael Barbieri’s clarified role in this film (which you can check out here) and now there’s this. Within just these last few weeks a lot of people have been added to the Spiderman: Homecoming cast, the most recent being Donald Glover in a currently unknown role. And now we have two martin-starr-300more actors to be joining the ranks.

The first actor to be added is Martin Starr. He may be best known in the role of Gilfoyle in the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, or at least that’s where I know him best. It is unclear what role Starr will have in the film but considering how much Spidey news has been coming out in recent times there’s only a matter of time. Even though we don’t yet know who he is playing, this is definitely a lovely addition to the Homecoming cast.

The second addition is that of Logan Marshall-Green. He is likely best known for his role as Charlie Holloway in the Ridley Scott film Prometheus. Marshall-Green is currently in mv5bmtgwnty2oti3mf5bml5banbnxkftztcwndc1mtg4nw-_v1_ux214_cr00214317_al_talks to join the cast, so I guess it’s not officially official. However he seems like a lock. If Logan does indeed join the Homecoming team he is set to play a villain. His villain would be a more minor one than that of Michael Keaton’s. Perhaps he’s the Tinkerer to Keaton’s Vulture? Only time will tell.

Along with these two actors the Spiderman: Homecoming cast includes Donald Glover, Michael Barbieri, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Laura Harrier, Kenneth Choi, Zendaya, Tom Holland. The movie is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car).

So what do you think of this news? Is this great or are you so hyped that Donald Glover is gonna be in this movie you don’t really care about these guys? Talk about it in the comments and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on Spiderman: Homecoming (because there will be more, and probably soon) and other things in the world of movie news.

Jon Watts Debunks ‘Homecoming’ Casting Rumor

While Doctor Strange is the next Marvel film to hit the big screen, it seems we just can’t stop talking about the new Spidey’s first solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland’s portrayal of the well beloved character was first seen in the most recent  Captain America movie and while his role was fairly small he showed that he was the Spidey we’ve always wanted. Now we have little more than a year before his solo movie arrives and the news is pouring in on everyone who’s joining in.

One actor who was recently added to the Spiderman: Homecoming cast was Michael Barbieri. A young actor on the rise, Barbieri was stated to be playing one of Peter’s pals. It was being said that Michael’s character would be based on a character from the Ultimate Spiderman comic book line named Ganke. Ganke is the best friend to that universe’s Spiderman, Miles Morales. Well it seems that’s not true.

According to director Jon Watts’ Twitter account, the rumors are wrong. In Watts’ first jon-watts-062315-e1437438383957tweet he stated “What The–?! Michael Barbieri was never playing Ganke… no idea how that rumor started… Ok, back to work!!!” And then to clarify he later tweeted “What The–?! Michael Barbieri was never playing “a version of or a character based on/similar to” Ganke… Ok, back to work for reals now!!!”

So this is refreshing news for all of us worried about what this would mean for when Miles Morales eventually joins the MCU. If this kid was the Ganke of the MCU, then who would Miles have? Although that’s assuming that Donald Glover isn’t Miles Morales and the MCU is going to utilize Miles Morales sometimes in the future.

So are you happy? Because that means we could actually get a Korean kid to play Ganke when the time comes! Or do you not care at all? Talk about it in the comments and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on Spiderman: Homecoming and other things in the world of movie news.

Donald Glover Added to ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ Cast

Spiderman: Homecoming has been steadily adding more and more actors from different corners of TV and cinema. From Zendaya (Shake it Up) to Michael Keaton (Batman) this movie is bringing some very interesting and talented people into the fold, and it seems that’s not stopping any time soon. Donald Glover (also known by his rap name Childish Gambino) is in negotiations to join the Spiderman: Homecoming cast. It is unclear what his part would be if he does decide to join the Homecoming.

It’s very intriguing that they decided to cast Donald Glover in this movie, considering his history with Spiderman. Back when The Amazing Spiderman movie was still casting, there donaldgloverspider-man-630x420was a big campaign to make Donald Glover the new Spiderman. It got fairly big and Glover even supported the campaign. But alas Andrew Garfield was cast as the new Spidey, but it seems to have all worked out in the end. Glover is in the new movie as someone and he voices Miles Morales in Disney XD’s Ultimate Spiderman.

Glover joins Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, and Michael Barbieri in this webslinger’s first solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is set to be directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) and begins production later this month.

So what do you think? Are you excited that Childish Gambino is gonna be in the new Spiderman movie? Or are you still pissed that Glover isn’t Spiderman? Kenneth Choi Cast in “Spiderman: Homecoming”

Of all of Marvel’s characters, the most iconic is definitely Spiderman. Even before the movies came out Spiderman was well known and well loved. Now we are entering a new age of Spiderman, one where he is truly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s already bumped elbows with the majority of the Avengers and now he will be splitting of into his own solo movie. And here’s some new news on this solo endeavor.
Actor Kenneth Choi has been cast in Spiderman: Homecoming. According to Deadline, Choi is set to play the principal at Peter Partner’s school. Along with Holland, Choi will be joining Michael Barbieri, Zendaya,  Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. In this solo film. The movie is said to be set six months after the events of Captain America: Civil War, in which Spiderman had a small but lovely part.
However, The casting choice is raising some alarms. If you thought this guy looked familiar it’s probably cause you saw him in Captain America: The First Avenger. Choi played Jim Morita, a Fresno born member of the Howling Commandos. Now, of all the superhero universes this is the one who has been the most strict about its continuity. But now I just don’t know. Choi is going to be playing a completely new character, so its not like the war hardened Morita is now a principal at a high school in Queens. And does this mean we will never see the Howling Commandos again? This casting choice has done nothing but raise questions. I just hope we like the answers.
What do you think? Do you think Marvel’s getting lazy? Or does this have some hidden meaning? Talk about it in the comments and don’t forget to like, share, and follow Sprom for more news on Spiderman: Homecoming and other things in the world of movie news.
